Sinlahekin Fire Update September 25, 2026 Daily Update Quick Facts Size: 166,007 acres Start Date: July 26, 2026 Cause: Lightning/Natural Containment: 93% Personnel: 521 Location: 12 Miles W of Tonasket, WA Key Message and Operational Updates Today an incoming cold front is expected to bring colder temperatures, rain, and possible thunderstorms with wetting rain and wind gusts up to 30mph. Heavy rain could impact the burn scar area, causing minor flooding and/or soil erosion. For the safety of firefighters and the public, please stay out of the fire closure area while suppression, repair, rehabilitation, and other work continue. Entering the closure area not only puts individuals at risk from post-fire hazards, including unstable trees, rolling debris, soil erosion, steep terrain, and changing conditions, but can also interfere with and delay ongoing repair operations. Timber salvage logging operations are planned to start early next week. Chopaka Lake Campground is expected to reopen on Monday. Trail, camp and road closures: Current Camp Closures: Salmon Meadows. Kerr, Oriole, Tiffany Springs, Roger Lake, Chopaka Lake, North Fork Nine Mile, Toats Coulee, and Cold Springs.
